Alec Baldwin fatally shoots cinematographer with prop gun on movie set
Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died and Director Joel Souza has been injured after Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on the Century Western film set Rust in New Mexico.
42 year old Halyna Hutchins was shot dead while working on the set as director of photography. She was taken to a hospital in Albuquerque by helicopter but later died from her injuries.
Director Joel Souza, was rushed from the set at Bonanza Creek Ranch by ambulance.
However, Police stated that they were investigating and no charges had been filed.
In a statement from the movies production company: “The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones. We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation. We will be providing counseling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event.”
Alec Baldwin was seen on the set of Rust with fake blood the day before the fatal shooting happened.
He shared this photo on Instagram with the caption ‘Back to in person at the office. Blimey…it’s exhausting.’ Alec has now removed the post from Instagram.
