“Awfully lucky in life” George Clooney talks about his wife Amal and their children
Once a committed Hollywood bachelor, George Clooney is now an exemplary good family man.
In a new podcast with Mark Maron, the 60 y.o. actor said that at home, surrounded by his family, he feels the happiest man.
However, Clooney admitted that before meeting Amal, his views on life were completely different and he did not want to get married and be a father.
“I didn’t want to get married. I didn’t want to have kids. And then this extraordinary human being walked into my life and I just fell madly in love, and I knew from the minute I met her that everything was going to be different.”
Clooney added that there were always many smart, interesting, and talented people around him (and many beautiful women), but only meeting with Amal could turn his life around and change his bachelor’s beliefs.
“I went out with a lot of really nice, smart and talented people. It’s just that every once in a while, there’s somebody that’s specifically for you,”
“I feel like Amal and I feel that way,” he added.
The celebrity couple has been married for 7 years and during this time they became the parents of their wonderful 4 y.o. twins Ella and Alexander.
The couple dated for less than a year before tying the knot. The actor admitted that, despite the fact that he and Amal never discussed marriage (he just proposed to his beloved), they discussed the decision to have children.
Clooney recalls the beginning of this conversation: “We’d been married for about a year and we were at a friend’s house and they had a kid there, which was loud and obnoxious and I was like, ‘Oh s —!”
Later, Amal remarked they were “awfully lucky in life.”
“And she said, ‘It seems like that luck should be shared with some other folks.'”
“Then I just said, ‘Well, I’m in if you’re in.'” Clooney agreed.
So the decision was made to have children.
George called this conversation very emotional.
When Amal became pregnant and they learned that they would become parents of twins, Clooney was dumbfounded, as he thought that the child would be alone. However, over time, he admits that he is glad to be the father of 2 children “I love it now, and thank god they have each other,”.
Now George wants to spend as much time with his family as possible and is even ready to sacrifice his usual “busy” lifestyle.
“Look, we have to rethink how we’re doing our lives because we’re working a lot – both of us,”
“We’re going to spend time with our kids, and we’re gonna travel again,” George shared their plans.
