FBI arrests rapper Fetty Wap on suspicion of drug trafficking
FBI officers arrested popular rapper Fetty Wap shortly before arriving at the Rolling Loud music festival in New York.
The rapper never entered the Rolling Loud stage due to his arrest.
The rapper was arrested Thursday at CitiField Stadium. According to TMZ, the 30y.o. artist and his accomplices are suspected of drug trafficking. The investigation reportedly found $1.5 million in cash, 16kg of cocaine, 2kg of heroin, fentanyl, and weapons.
If convicted, he faces life in prison. A representative of the artist, commenting on the situation, expressed the hope that suspicions about the rapper would turn out to be just a “misunderstanding” and he would not be jailed.
Previously, Fetty Wap already had problems with the law. So, in 2017, he was arrested for drunk driving, and in 2019 he was accused of assualt. However, in both cases they were not prison offences.
In the summer, Willie Maxwell II (the rapper’s real name) experienced a huge personal tragedy, his 4.y.o.daughter died. This was reported by the girl’s mother on her Instagram.
Fetty Wap is best known for the track “Trap Queen” – the song’s YouTube video has received over 752 million views.
