Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady Are Now Single

Gisele Bundchen filed for divorce from Tom Brady after 13 years of marriage. The documents are not public, yet court record revealed that Brady did not contest the filing. On Friday, the dissolution of the marriage was finalized on Friday.

Gisele Bundchen speaks out on Instagram

After the news broke, Gisele wrote on her Instagram Story:

“With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to five them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve.”

“The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always,” she continued. “I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time.”

Tom Brady does the same

The NFL superstar also confirmed the news on his Instagram Story.

“In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve,” he wrote.

“We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration,” Brady continued. “Doing so is, of course, is painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written.”

Just like Gisele, Tom also asked for privacy during this time.

What caused the divorce

Earlier this month, news broke out that Gisele and Tom had hired divorce lawyers and were working out details of the split. What caused this was Tom Brady deciding to un-retire from his career in the NFL back in March.  

“There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids,” a source told Page Six in September. “They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, than he changed his mind.”

Gisele herself hinted at her marital troubles in recent months. In an interview with Elle magazine, she revealed that she asked her husband “over and over” to be “more present” with their family. “Ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them],” the supermodel said at the time. “He needs to follow his joy, too.”

Gisele Bundchen buys modest home

It seems like the star marriage was headed towards the end long before the public caught wind of it.

A few weeks before Brady revealed his comeback to the NFL, Gisele Bundchen quietly purchased a modest three-bedroom, three-bathroom, home in Miami Beach. She paid $1.25 million for the humble abode which was remodeled during the summer. It is most likely that Giselle will use this property as a temporary home until the divorce is completely finalized.

Brady and Bundchen said goodbye to the home they lived in for the last two years. During Brady’s time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the former couple rented a contemporary estate in Davis Islands. The house is now listed for $12.5 million. The property features a wine cellar, chef’s kitchen, custom pool, spa, private dock, and boat lift.

Stabilization course

When they said children are their priority, they meant it. Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady each completed a “Parent Education and Family Stabilization” course before their divorce.

The NFL star finished the four-hour course on October 25, while his supermodel ex, on October 26.

The course is an obligation rather than a choice. Florida requires all separating and divrocing parents to take this course as it’s designed to edcuate, train, and assist parents in regards to the impact divorce can have on parents and on children.

Gisele and Tom share two children: Benjamin, 12 years old and Vivian, 9 years old. Tom also has a son from a previous relationship with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan, Jack, 15 years old.
