Omer Fedi: Exciting Facts About the Music Prodigy

Omer Fedi is a songwriter and producer out of Tel Aviv, Israel, who has produced wonderful tunes including songs like “Stay” by the Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber, “Mood” by 24kGoldn, and “Montero Call” by Lil Nas X.

Omer Fedi’s golden touch on these songs helped them peak at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and has projected him into the limelight. Currently, he’s dating Social Media sensation, Addison Rae, and the two can’t seem to take their hands off each other. We present to you 12 facts about the young Israeli music producer.

Born in March 2005, the music guru began writing songs at age 19 after songwriter Sam Hook had recruited him, the youngster then started writing songs for British songstress Ella Mai and then went on to work with English singer-songwriter, YUNGBLUD. Soon, he came into contact with 24KGoldn and the pair wrote a song together.

In 2020, Omer Fedi featured on Machine Gun Kelly COVID-19 lockdown sessions by performing the songs Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer and Misery Business by the rock band Paramore.

How Omer Fedi Became a Pro in the Music Industry?

On 31st March 2020, the Israeli native and 24KGoldn released the song “City of Angels” which was co-written and co-produced by him. Three months later, Kid Laroi released the tune “Go!” featuring Juice Wrld, another song produced by Fedi.

Omer Fedi composed and produced “I’m Gone” by American rapper, Iann Dior, on 12 June 2020. A month later, the song “Mood” by 24KGoldn, featuring Iann Dior, and Omer Fedi was released which was co-produced and co-written by the music guru, Fedi.

Soon, “Mood” peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and enjoyed the position for 33 weeks. Kid Laroi also released his mixtape “F*ck Love” on the same day, co-produced and co-written by Omer.

In November, Kid Laroi released the deluxe version of “F*ck Love” which featured the hit single “Without You” composed and produced by Fedi. “Without You” peaked at number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Later, the music genius co-produced “Tickets to My Downfall” by Machine Gun Kelly where he performed guitar and played the bass on the song. “Tickets to My Downfall” peaked at number one on Billboard 200 after its September release. At the tail end of 2021, Omer Fedi was featured on YUNGBLUD’s album “Weird”.

Then in March 2021, Lil Nax X released his song “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” featuring Omer Fedi. That same month, Omer produced and featured on the album “El Dorado” by 24K Goldn. The song Fedi co-wrote and co-produced was the hit single “Sun Goes Down”.

The Humble Beginnings of Omer Fedi

Omer Fedi is the son of an accomplished drummer, Asher Fedi, so it is no surprise that his son, Fedi, took to drums in his early life when his father taught him. However, as fate would have it, Fedi switched to playing guitar at the young age of 10 and he never looked back.

In an interview, Fedi stated that he was inspired to become a guitarist by Drake Bell in the American sitcom Drake & Josh. To pursue his musical opportunities, the young Omer and his father moved from Tel Aviv to Los Angeles. There, the 16-year-old Fedi attended the Calabasas High School where he became part of the school’s jazz ensemble.

Soon, the musical prodigy’s excellence in the instruments started drawing parents from all walks of life to the school’s jazz ensemble concerts. His performances drew praise from the school’s jazz clinician who said that whenever Fedi played guitar, he “could speak through the instrument.”

In 2018, the 18-year-old Omer competed in the Reno Jazz Festival where he beat about 9,000 other students to win the “Outstanding Performer” award. The following year, his musical talents brought him to the attention of Sam Hook, and the rest is history.

According to the young instrumentalist, he had never written a song before he met Sam Hook and worked with the veteran every day after school. After he finished high school, his first major breakthrough came with YUNGBLUD then later he started working with other artists.

In 2020, Omer was signed to the Universal Music Publishing Group where he had the opportunity to work with.

In June 2021, Omer and Tiktok star, Addison Rae, were romantically linked after the two were spotted together at the rooftop concert of Machine Gun Kelly. The couple were once again spotted together at the Erewhon in Los Angeles.

A month later, Addison Rae took to Instagram and teased fans with a video of two shadows sharing a coy kiss with many fans speculating that the shadows were Omer and Addison Rae. In August of the same year, the Tiktok star left a post on IG, and Omer couldn’t help but comment, “I’m in love with you”, finally confirming their relationship.

Though there have been some ups and downs, which is common with all relationships, the pair have been going strong for the past year and we can only wish that they go stronger.

Omer Fedi Wins Big at the 2022 BMI Awards

This year’s BMI awards saw the artist bagging several awards which is a testament to his influence on the music industry since he joined. The 22-year-old attended the event with his girlfriend, Addison Rae, and his manager, Conor Ambrose where he went home with the “song of the year award” for his work on 24KGoldn’s song “Mood”.

He also won the “Song Writer of the Year” award which he tied with fellow record producer, Michael Pollack.

Omer Fedi’s recognition at the BMI awards shows how respected he is even though he just started a few years ago. According to BMI, his songs “Mood”, “Stay” and “Without You” were among the 50 most performed songs in the year under review.

The song “Stay” featuring Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber is still in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 since its debut last year July. Omer once confessed that his relationship with the artists who have featured him so far is the secret to his early success.

Speaking with Variety, the 22-year-old said, “I don’t understand how you can make music with someone that isn’t your friend, or someone random. If you don’t vibe together as a human, even if both of you are incredible musicians, you just can’t make good music.”
