To pursue his musical opportunities, the young Omer and his father moved from Tel Aviv to Los Angeles. There, the 16-year-old Fedi attended the Calabasas High School where he became part of the school’s jazz ensemble.
Soon, the musical prodigy’s excellence in the instruments started drawing parents from all walks of life to the school’s jazz ensemble concerts. His performances drew praise from the school’s jazz clinician who said that whenever Fedi played guitar, he “could speak through the instrument.”
In 2018, the 18-year-old Omer competed in the Reno Jazz Festival where he beat about 9,000 other students to win the “Outstanding Performer” award. The following year, his musical talents brought him to the attention of Sam Hook, and the rest is history.
According to the young instrumentalist, he had never written a song before he met Sam Hook and worked with the veteran every day after school. After he finished high school, his first major breakthrough came with YUNGBLUD then later he started working with other artists.
