R. Kelly found guilty in sex trafficking trial

R. Kelly has been found guilty on all nine counts in his sex trafficking and racketeering case.

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York confirmed the guilty conviction on Twitter. “R. Kelly has been convicted of racketeering by a federal jury in Brooklyn,”

“R. Kelly found guilty on ALL COUNTS.”

Multiple witnesses gave testimonies against R. Kelly in the trial with a majority of witnesses telling the court how he subjected them to abusing them when they were underage. Kelly has denied these allegations all along.

U.S. Attorney Nadia Shihata said in federal court that R. Kelly “believed the music, the fame and the celebrity meant he could do whatever he wanted,” in the defense’s closing argument that attempted to portray Kelly as a victim of false accusations.

Prosecutors however said their evidence proves how Kelly along with the help of his entourage used tactics from “the predator playbook” to sexually exploit his victims.

Steve Greenberg, who was part of Kelly’s defense team in Cook County, IL until Kelly dropped him tweeted his disappointment.

“We are extraordinarily disappointed in the verdict was returned by the New York jury today. Mike Leonard and myself believe that the verdict was not supported by the evidence and instead is a reflection of the hysteria whipped up by a couple of TV shows,”.
