Rita Ora gushes over her rumoured husband

Rita Ora rarely speaks out about her romantic relationships, but she made an exception for rumoured husband Taika Waititi.

In an episode of the “Greatest Night Ever,” the singer gushed about the director. “I’m in love, very much in love,” she said. “Amen! I love love.”

“I’ve always been such a believer in it and I always felt like – I always wanted the fairy tale,” she continued.

Rita also said that her parents, who have been married for more than 30 years, are her inspiration.

“For me, it was always about that love, finding a partner, so I’m really happy I did,” she said. “I love Taika. Shout out to Taika.”

Rita Ora and Taika Waititi reportedly got married in an intimate ceremony in London.

“It was a really intimate ceremony and super special for everyone there,” a source told The Sun. “Their nearest and dearest can see how madly in love they are.”

The source claimed that the singer changed her name to Waititi-Ora. They wanted a small wedding in order “to keep their relationship as private as possible.”

“A big, showbiz-style bash is planned to celebrate, but don’t expect to see it being flogged to the highest-bidding magazine,” the source added.

Rita Ora seemingly confirmed the news when she posted a few photos on Instagram where a wedding band was visible. Neither Rita, nor Taika responded when asked to comment.

The engagement

To further prove how much in love the stars are, they made almost “simultaneous” wedding proposals to each other.

“This isn’t about them doing a big showy thing and crowing about it beforehand,” a source told The UK Sun after the news broke out. “It’s just about them being in love and deciding the time is right to formalise their relationship. They couldn’t be happier.”

Where it all started

Rita Ora, 31, and Taika Waititi, 46, first sparked romance rumours in spring 2021 when they were photographed cozying up to each other in Sydney. The romance was confirmed when the two were caught kissing on a balcony, but that was not all.

Actress Tessa Thompson was also involved in the kiss. In the images, you can see Rita, Taika, and Tessa, all close up together, seemingly sharing a three-way kiss.

At the time, Thompson as in Australia to film “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which was being directed by Taika Waititi. Thompson has also previously disclosed that she is attracted to men and women alike. Nonetheless, she doesn’t label herself as bisexual.

A few months after the images hit the internet, Taika Waititi made himself available for comment to clear out the air.

“I think in the world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick,” said the filmmaker to Sydney Morning Herald. “And also, ‘Is it that big a deal?’ No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine.”

Making a relationship public and making a relationship red carpet official are two different things in Hollywood. Rita and Taika had their red carpet debut in early August. The singer and the Oscar winner attended “The Suicide Squad” premiere together, making this their first public appearance as a couple.

Waititi wore a grey suit, while Ora donned a plunging white suit dress with sparkling accessories.

When she was 18, Rita Ora and Bruno Mars were an item. The sweet romance ended when they progressed in their careers and fame got in the way.

Throughout the years, te singer had short lived relationships with Rob Kardashian, Andrew Garfield, A$AP Rocky and Travis Barker. Rita was also rumoured to have been in relationships with Drake, Chris Brown, and Lewis Hamilton.

One of her most serious romances was with DJ Calvin Harris during 2013-2014. Rita was completely blindsided by Harris; she discovered they were broken up when he tweeted about it.

“To address speculation – myself and Rita ended our relationship some time ago,” Calvin wrote in a since-deleted Tweet. “She is a beautiful, talented woman and I wish her all the best.”

Rita also dated record producer Andrew Watt for a year in 2017-2018. They split because of their busy schedules.

Her last boyfriend before Taika was French director Romain Gavras. They also broke up because of busy schedules and work commitments.

Taika Waititi’s failed marriage

Waititi married Chelsea Winstanley in 2011 in New York City. Winstanley is a New Zealand-based film producer who has worked on the mockumentary “What We Do in the Shadows,” as well as the Oscar-winning film “Jojo Rabbit.”

Waititi and Winstanley share two daughters: Te Hinekāhu, 7, and Matewa Kiritapu, 4.

The couple reportedly separated in 2018, but did not talk about it in public until 2020.
