Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively: A true romance

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are one of the most adored couples in showbiz. You might even call them Hollywood Royalty without batting an eye. After nine years together and after three kids, they appear in crazy in love. The couple seems to be in the honeymoon phase all the time.

Where it all started

It started with a movie. As you might already know, Ryan and Blake starred in “Green Lantern”. They were both present at Comicon, in July 2010, to promote the project. At this time, Ryan was married to Scarlett Johanson.

Shortly after, Blake broke off her relationship with Penn Badgley, her costar from “Gossip Girl”. At the same time, Ryan and Scarlett decide to end their marriage. All in all, they both ended their relationships within weeks of each other. Sounds suspicious…

At the “Green Lantern” premiere, the two were seen quite friendly with each other. All signs point to one direction, but they were just friends. At least for a while.

Sometime during the summer of 2011, Blake and Ryan went on a double date, which Ryan reminisces fondly.

“We were buddies then,” says the actor. “I remember it was funny because for about a year after Green Lantern had come and gone and all that stuff, we were both single. We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy, and I was on a date with another girl. That was the most awkward date [from their perspective] probably because we were just, like, fireworks coming across.”

Apparently, the restaurant where they did the double date was the restaurant they fell in love in. Ryan described this moment in an interview for GQ.

“We were hanging out at this little restaurant in Tribeca that’s open really late, and this song came on and I was just like, ‘Want to dance?’ No one was in there, so it was just totally empty. And it was just one of those moments where halfway through the dance, it was like, ‘Oh, I think I just crossed a line.’ And then I walked her home. And, uh, you know, I don’t really need to go into what happened after that.”

That same year, Blake was photographed getting out of Ryan’s apartment in Boston. Several sources started reporting that the two were now a couple and that was certain.

During the holidays, Ryan invited Blake to spend time with his family in Vancouver. Of course, they were spotted by the paparazzis from that moment on.

They didn’t waste any time dating. A year after meeting each other, they get married in a super secret ceremony. The wedding was held at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Blake wore a Marchesa wedding gown.

Now that they are married, they didn’t hold off on public appearances. The pair attended the 2014 Met Gala together.

Children

James

On October 2016, Blake announced that she and Ryan are expecting their first child. Their daughter James was born just before The New Year 2015. They kept their daughter’s name a secret until March.

“It’s James. Everyone knows. I didn’t want to be the first guy screaming it out to the media, because as we know, little girls turn into teenage girls and little teenage girls sometimes scan through the archives and go, ‘Why did you do that?’ said Ryan on the Today show.

We later learned that James was named after Ryan’s father.

Inez

Without much wait, Ryan and Blake decided to go for baby number two. On April 2016, it was reported that Blake was pregnant again. The second baby was born on September 30, a girl names Inez.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are very private when it comes to their personal lives, so no formal announcement was made regarding the birth of their daughter.

A public appearance

To everyone’s surprise, the couple makes a public appearance with their children to celebrate Ryan’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“I want to thank my wife, Blake, who is sitting right there, who is everything to me. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You make everything better. You make everything in my life better. You’ve given me two of the most incredible children I’ve ever hoped to have,” said Ryan in his speech.

Marriage troubles?

During 2018, there were speculations that the actors were having marital issues and might be ending their marriage. Ryan, being Ryan, denied the allegations with just two tweets.

A third child

During the “Pokémon Detective Pikachu” premiere, Blake showed up with a baby bump. It might or it might have not overshadowed her husbands movie. We’ll leave it at that.

Blake gave birth to a third baby girl in October 9^th, 2019. Of course, the couple didn’t share any details. They shared a photo of the youngest, but made sure to scribble over the baby’s face so it wasn’t visible.

The name wasn’t made public, but Ryan cleverly joked and said: We’re going to be original—all of the letters in her name are silent. I want to give her something to push against in life.”

On the Today show, Ryan was asked how he feels in a family made of women.

““It’s all women. I’d have it no other way.” He also added jokingly that having all girls is just part of his master plan “to wipe men off the face of the earth.”

After Taylor Swift released her album “Folklore,” people speculated that she revealed the name of the couple’s third child in her song Betty. And of course, they were correct.
