Selena Gomez in new documentary: “I’m lucky to be alive.”

Selena Gomez will soon release a new documentary titled “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.” In the recently released trailer, the Rare Beauty Founder, shares a glimpse into her life and the continuous health issues.

“My whole life, since I was a kid, I’ve working,” the singer explains while shedding a tear. “And I don’t want to be, like, super famous. But I do know that if I’m here, that have to use that for good.”

“Just be who you are, Selena,” she tells herself in the beginning of the trailer. “No one cares about what you’re doing. It’s about who I am. Being okay with where I am. I am grateful to be alive.”

Raquelle Stevens, a close and longtime friend of Selena Gomez, also appears in the trailer. Stevens opened up about her experience supporting Gomez throughout her personal and health battles.

“If anybody saw what I saw, they wouldn’t have recognized her,” Stevens said.

The documentary spans six years of Selena Gomez’s life. It shows her philantropy work and the various intesive treatments she went through to cure her illnesses.

“Everything that I have gone through, it’s gonna be there. I’m just making it my friend now,” the singer narrates. “I am happier, and I’m in control of my emotions and thoughts more than I have ever been.”

The documentary premiers on November 4th on Apple TV+.

Selena Gomez reveals bipolar diagnosis

In 2020, while invited as a guest on Miley Cyrus’ Instagram live stream, Selena Gomez revealed tha she suffers from Bipolar Disorder. She was diagnosed by doctors at McLean Hospital in Bemont, Massachussets. Selena holds the hospital in high regard, even refers to it as “one of the best mental health facilities in the United States.”

The diagnosis brought the singer a peace of mind.

“When I have more information, it actually helps me, it doesn’t scare me once i know it… When I finally said what I was goint to say, I wanted to know everything about it and it took the fear away,” Selena said during the Instagram Live session. “When I was younger, I was scared of thunderstorms and my mom bought me all these books on thunderstorms and she was like, ‘The more you educate yourself on this, the more that you’re not going to be afraid.’ It completely worked. That’s something that helps me big time.”

Bipolar Disorder is defined as “a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings which can include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression).”

Selena Gomez opens up about her Lupus diagnosis

In 2017, Selena took the stage at the Lupus Research Alliance’s Breaking Through Gala where she spoke about her battle with the autoimmune disease.

Gomez is an honorary chair for the foundation. She was diagnosed with lupus arthritis roughly ten years ago. During her speech, Gomez warned about the dangers of not taking medical diagnoses seriously, like she did at the beginning. “They said I would be needing a kidney transplant,” Gomez said. “Maybe I wasn’t necessarily really good at knowing what that meant, so it actually got to a point where it was life or death. Thankfully, one of my best friends gave me her kidney and it was the ultimate gift of life. And I am doing very well now.”

Selena Gomez has also shared that she suffers from depression, anxiety and panic attacks. Lupus affects people in different ways, and depression and anxiety can be side effects

A longtime friend was Selena’s kidney donor. The transplant took place during the summer of 2017.

“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of,” the singer wrote on Instagram at the time. “So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplat due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what i needed to do for my overall health.”

Gomez thanked her doctors, family, friends and medical personale for their care. Her biggest thanks went to her best friend, dancer and actress Francia Raisa, her kidney donor.

“There aren’t words to describe how i can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me,” Selena wrote. “I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”

What’s next for the star

Currently, Selena is working as an executive producer and star in the HBO Max cooking series titled “Selena + Chef. She is also working on the Hulu mystery-comedy series “Only Murders in the Building” which earned critical praise.

Is she single?

After claims broke out that Selena is currently dating someone, a source spoke to Entertainment Tonight to debunk them.

“Selena isn’t dating anyone specific at this time,” the source said. “She is more open to love, but she is also very much focused on herself and her work right now. She is in a very healthy place. She is feeling fantastic and very mentally, physically and emotionally healthy.”

The source also shared that Gomez has standards when it comes to partners. “When she is ready for a true partner, she wants someone who is trustworthy, respectful, honest – with themselves and to others, real, supportive, accepting, nice, thoughtful, funny and someone that’s not in it for the fame or attention.”
