Shakira Speaks About Her Recent Breakup With Pique
Shakira has kept silent about their separation for quite a while. However, in an interview with Elle Shakira speaks about her recent breakup with Pique. This separation follows a 12 year long commitment to one another. So this truly came as a surprise to fans across the nation. Although the two were never married, they shared a family together that has been greatly impacted by the reality of a harsh separation.
She Hinted Towards Infidelity Playing A Role
Shakira told an interviewer for Elle’s October edition “… I can only say I put everything I had into this relationship and my family.” Was she insinuating that Pique may not have been able to say the same? she did not directly comment on whether or not infidelity played a role in their breakup. Shakira can be quoted several times discussing how painful this separation has been for her and her children.
She Truly Gave It Her All
She gave everything to her relationship with Pique. They even moved their family to live in Barcelona so that Pique could continue his professional career playing soccer. Shakira can be quoted speaking about the decision to live in Barcelona saying “one of the two had to make that effort and that sacrifice, and I did it. I put my career in second gear and I came to Spain, to support him so he could play football and win titles, and it was a sacrifice of love.”
She Doesn’t Speak About it With Her Children
She was asked about how much she tells her children in reference to the separation. Shakira explained, “yeah I try to conceal the situation from them as much as I can. Its really upsetting for two kids who are trying to process their parents’ separation.” I think any mother could understand her frame of mind with this one.
She is Using This as an Opportunity to Support Women and Grow
Shakira doesn’t identify herself as a feminist. She made it a point to be very supportive of women though. Especially those who may be going through the same or similar situations. She told Elle “I think that women, we are resilient. you know, we have this resiliency that is just innate in all of us.” it sounds like she is taking the opportunity to grow from this situation. She spoke several times about relating to other women in similar situations.
